I Spent Two Years Figuring It Out Alone. You Don't Have To.
Nobody sat me down in 100 level and explained how the university grading system actually works.
I arrived at Achievers University a little scared and completely unprepared.
I remember being so overwhelmed in my first week because of the stress from the checklist and figuring out when classes would hold. I just wanted to go home!
So I did what most of us do. I figured it out on my own.
I built my own timetable by hand. I kept track of what I'd read in my head and I hoped nothing slipped through.
I never really knew where I stood in each course, and I second-guessed myself constantly.
It was exhausting, and under all of it was one quiet fear: am I doing this right?
So, if you're a fresher, you're probably excited and overwhelmed at the same time. That's normal.
If you've been here a while, you may be feeling something different: the weight of heavier courses, the pressure of a CGPA you're trying to protect, it could also be the feeling that you're working hard but not sure it's showing. That's normal too, and I know it well...
I did well in 100 level. It's the easiest level to build a strong foundation, and I'm glad I took it seriously.
But I did it on stress and guesswork, and I didn't realise how much that was costing me until the following year in 200 level.
200 level humbled me.
As a law student, everything got harder and bulkier, and I walked in with no plan.
I spent most of that year attending tutorials and trying one method after another, hoping something would finally click.
Some days I felt like I was working so hard and getting nowhere. I wasn't lazy. I was spending my energy on how to study instead of actually studying, and I know I performed below my potential because of it.
Honestly, that's the part that still stings. Not the stress, but knowing I could have done better with a system.
LOOK! You don't need to be a genius. You need a plan. Here's mine:
I'll plan my week before it starts.I would make sure I know my classes, study time, and deadlines upfront.
I'll track what I've actually covered. Not "I've been reading," but which topics are done.
I'll study a little every day, even on light days, so I'm never cramming in panic.
I'll stop guessing how ready I am.I'll check instead.
It really doesn't matter if you're a fresh or returning student. You can do everything I mentioned above and you can do it in the stress-free way!
